Important April 2026 Tax Deadlines for Businesses

April brings a heavy load of compliance requirements for business owners. Missing these deadlines often triggers costly penalties. Keep your operations running smoothly with this guide to essential April 2026 business tax due dates.

Key April 15 Deadlines

C-Corporations: Calendar-year C-Corporations must file their 2025 Form 1120 and pay any tax due. If more time is needed, submit Form 7004 for a six-month extension. Remember, an extension to file does not extend your time to pay. Estimate and deposit your liability carefully to avoid late payment penalties. Also, the first installment for 2026 estimated corporate taxes is due today.

Payroll & Withholding: If you are a monthly depositor, you must deposit Social Security, Medicare, withheld income tax, and non-payroll withholding for your March payments.

Fiduciary Returns: Timely file your 2025 calendar-year estate and trust returns (Form 1041) or request a formal extension.

April 30 Deadlines

Form 941: File your first quarter 2026 return and deposit any unpaid tax. If your total liability is under $2,500, pay it with your timely return. If you already deposited fully and on time, you have until May 11 to file the return.

FUTA Tax: Deposit your federal unemployment tax owed through March if the amount exceeds $500.

Holidays & Disaster Relief

When tax deadlines hit a weekend or legal holiday, they automatically push to the next business day. Additionally, businesses operating in federally declared disaster areas may receive automatic extensions. Verify your area's status using the official resources below:
